Job Description

The operator will be responsible for any of the equipment in the department.

Safety for yourself as well as machine assistants
Set-up, operate, and maintain converting machinery.
Responsible for ensuring the machine produces high quality products.
Responsible for reviewing work order to determine product specifications.
Responsible for quantity and quality to meet efficiency rates.
Ensure raw materials are pulled and ready at the machine.
Reviews roll quality throughout job run.
Uses a forklift regularly to load or unload machines and move products as needed.
Verifies proper finished product weight and packaging.
Completes all paperwork accurately and performs well under deadlines meeting quality standards.
Assists other machine centers as assigned.
Regular standing, lifting, and bending are required. Lifting to 50 lbs. On a regular basis.
Responsible for training machine assistants
Ensuring machine assistants are performing their job correctly and safely.
Ensuring there is clear communication with the floor supervisor on any issue with quality, safety, machine assistants, materials, maintenance, or anything else causing the machine not to be efficient.
Machine operator is responsible for the normal maintenance on the machine such as greasing, cleanliness, oiling, or any other normal maintenance required to keep the machine in good working condition. Daily machine maintenance and cleaning/housekeeping of work area.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma/GED or higher
At least one-year hands on experience in manufacturing
Forklift experience necessary
Basic computer skills for data entry

Language, Mathematical Skills, and Reasoning Ability:
Ability to use and read a tape measure
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
Ability to do simple math and use a calculator
Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands:
While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for a long time, use upper body strength to reach, pull, and handle tools. The employee must walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, and or lift heavy rolls or equipment while tending to the machinery and communicating with the production manager or other co-workers. There is regular lifting of machine shafts and maneuvering master rolls to load and unload machines. This lifting can vary from 50 pounds up to 100 pounds, depending on the job.
Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and loud noises (hearing and eye protection are required). The production area is not climate controlled. The employee will be exposed to heat, cold, and humidity.

Monday thru Friday 6a-4: 30p days and times can vary during the busy season
