Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
" Works independently to fit and weld steel structures
" Able to competently and efficiently perform all required fitting and welding functions

Qualifications:
" High School or equivalent diploma
" 2-5 years of industrial structural steel welding and fitting
" Able to read and interpret blueprints
" Possesses the skill and knowledge to fit up, tack and weld structural steel assemblies based from blueprints
" Able to perform basic mathematical computations
" Able to accurately take measurements using a variety of devices (rulers, tapes, Etc.)
" Able to perform MIG welding techniques and perform any setup and adjustment (power, wire feed, gas flow, Etc.) to MIG welding equipment for any conditions
" Efficiently able to lay down flat, vertical, overhead fillet welds beads on mild carbon steel at prescribed sizes. Also, able to make wrap around welds and securely position and weld Nelson studs. Able to perform continuous welds with smooth starts and stops
" Safely operate right angle and die grinders equipped with required guarding
" Able to use an acetylene torch for accurately cutting rebar
" Use an acetylene torch to cope beams/angle/channel with proper radius and bevel. Able to cleanly torch holes
" Use a propane torch rose but for heating structural components
" Safely gouge to remove welds without damage to the substrate
" Able a to accurately cut PVC with a hack saw and cleanly fit pipe assemblies
" Able to identify parts and reference their location on a drawing or parts list (BOM)
" Fabricate assemblies while maintaining required dimensional tolerances and minimizing the effects of heat warp
" Able to recognize raw material defects and be able to straighten or achieve conformity
" Able to perform all quality checks as required for fitting and welding
" Identify and effectively troubleshoot weld quality issues (pinholes, undercuts, cold welds, poor penetration, ETC)
" Ability to work independently and follow established processes

Job Requirements

Physical Requirements:
" Able to walk and stand for long periods of time
" Able to work and weld in awkward positions which include sitting, kneeling, crouching, bending and reaching
" Able to safely lift to 50lbs using proper technique
" Able to work in extremes of cold and heat
" Visually determine small differences in material or part characteristics
" Hear verbal instructions, warning signals and horns or beepers

1st shift 5: 45a-2: 15p M-F
2nd shift 2: 15p-10: 45p M-F
Pay ranges between $16/hr-$22/hr DOE
